Polish currency PLN has coins and notes (10, 20, 50, 100, 200). Exchange rate is quite stable but 20% changes in exchange rate are not very uncommon. If you want to check current exchange rate please have a look at website of one of the oldest exchanges in Krakow - kantor BAKSY - where information is updated several times a day. It is usually better to change foreign currency in Poland (Monday - Friday 9-18 most bigger exchanges in the Old Town offer competitive rates, public holidays & weekends rate is usually lower). You may use your credit card to take money from the ATM (cash machine) but it works out better to change cash in KANTOR. If you pay with the credit card exchange rate is comparavle (but not everywhere you can pay with credit card, or want to pay...).
